The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 156 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Eight people were arrested. Six of the eight people were arrested on outstanding warrants.

Man Fails to Comply with Release Condition CK17046350
On November 24, 2017 the man appeared in court after being charged with break and enter. He was released with several conditions, one being to reside at a specific address in Chatham.

Yesterday, officers attended the address provided to the courts and learned that the man never lived at that address after being released.

This morning, just before 1:00 a.m. police located the man riding his bicycle in Chatham. The 33-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested and charged with failing to comply. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Stolen Motor Vehicle CK17046358
Shortly after 4:00 a.m. this morning, police responded to an abandoned vehicle in a ditch at the corner of Colby Road and Gosnell Line. Through investigation, police determined that the white Ford Fusion had been stolen sometime after 10:00 p.m. from the owner’s residence in Ridgetown.

Theft of E-Bike CK17046240
Sometime yesterday between midnight and 8:00 a.m. unknown suspect(s) stole a red Lisha e-bike from a carport on Harvey Street in Chatham. The e-bike is covered in Detroit Red Wings stickers and valued at approximately $400.

Theft of Trailer from Windmill Site CK17046270
Sometime over the past weekend, unknown suspect(s) stole a white 2013 Interstate cargo trailer from a windmill site on Oldfield Line. The trailer contained approximately $41,000 worth of tools.

Break and Enter in Chatham CK17046301
Sometime between November 9, 2017 and November 19, 2017 unknown suspect(s) entered a residence through an unlocked garage door and stole a red Honda EU 2000 generator, GPS, Blackberry Playbook and iPod. The suspect(s) also caused about $1000 damage to the homeowner’s 50” Samsung television. Total value of the theft has been estimated at $1600.

Stolen Firearms CK17046309
Sometime yesterday between 7:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. unknown suspect(s) forced their way into a rural residence between Tupperville and Dresden causing about $600 to a door. Once inside, the suspect(s) stole a 43” Sony Bravia television, Seika DVD player, Nintendo gaming console, Super Nintendo gaming console and WD Passport 320gb external hard drive. The suspect(s) also stole three firearms in their respective locked cases: a Stevens .22 cal single shot lever action rifle, a black Remington 710 12-gauge pump action shotgun and black 270 Remington 710 pump action shotgun. A small quantity of ammunition was also stolen.

Motor Vehicle Collisions
CK17046284 – Yesterday afternoon around 4:30 p.m. police responded to a two vehicle collision on Grand Avenue West near Sandys Street in Chatham. No one was injured. Total damage was estimated at $3000. A 65-year-old Tupperville man was charged with failing to yield from a driveway.

CK17046291 – Yesterday afternoon shortly after 4:30 p.m. police responded to a two vehicle collision on St. George Street in Dresden. Minor injuries were reported. Total damage was estimated at $11,000. A 32-year-old Sarnia man was charged with careless driving.

CK17046305 – Last night around 6:15 p.m. emergency crews responded to a two vehicle collision on Amelia Street near St. Clair Street in Chatham. No one was injured. Total damage was estimated at $3500. A 44-year-old Chatham man was charged with an offence contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.
